Goal 2013 : Get Organized

January 6, 2013

DSC03195This is one of my important goal for the year. I am not the most organized person in the world. Personally I like a little bit of chaos, I think better in chaos but it is very important to have an organized working space for any crafter. Otherwise, you will waste many hours trying to piece together your thoughts. Cork boards are perfect for keeping the object of your inspiration right under your eyes and also switching and adding any new inspiration. I first hung a few that reminded me of happy moment such as this “thing” below I bought in Toledo Spain (is it a candle holder?) and this little child drawing (I was a babysitter for a long time).

DSC03190Another important step if you have nosy animals like my Leo is storage. Leo, my cat is so nosy that I can’t afford to leave anything out. He seems to think that his food and water bowl are a better place to store my tools, beads and yarns. It gets me so mad when I have to salvage my yarns out of his bowls that I had to find a way to hide most of my things. So these days, anything from empty cans of tomato sauce to wine crates has become storage space. I have also been using vintage tins bought over the years. It helps me to keep everything organized while making Leo keep his paws to himself.

I also keep nearby all my knit and crochet book and always on top of my desk this amazing organizer Craft Inc. which keeps me on track and helps me prioritize my work.

DSC03187This is just the beginning of creating a space where I can be productive and be inspired as well. It will surely evolve as I experience and discover more about this craft. The only thing missing now is the sewing machine…

I need to get more organized too! I’m excited for the development of your space. 🙂
